Enjoy Nature at its Best

Kludahk Trail

Sharan Nylander is our resident Gallery Director, you will often find her welcoming guests at the Front Desk. She is a most prolific hiker and forager, and knows just about everything there is to know about the hundreds of trails in and around Sooke. Here’s Sharan in her own words:

My favorite hiking trail in the area is Sooke’s best kept secret, the “Kludahk Trail”. It runs 48 km along the San Juan Ridge between Jordan River & Port Renfrew. The trail is preserved and protected by the Ministry of Forests in partnership with the forest industry. I really love looking at the amazing views and unique ecosystems in the forest, ponds, lakes and wild flowers. During the wintertime I love to snow shoe when the trail can have up to 25’ of snow! It took me a little while to find the Kludahk as the heads and trails are not in plain sight, so it is truly a peaceful and unspoiled hike. There are also lovely cabins hidden along the trail, which are owned by the Kludahk Club and they are so cute!

I love this trail as it is the perfect way for me to unplug and enjoy nature at its best.
